Muharram Rituals and Incident of Karbala

Muharram is one of the most sacred month for Muslims around the world. It is the start of their lunar year. According to Sahi Hadith; The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“Allah’s month Al-Muharram.” (Muslim 163).

Allah (SWT) forbade us from fighting and doing injustice in this month, although, injustice is strictly forbidden in Islam but Allah (SWT) has warn Ummah to stop doing bad things in Muharram more specifically. As Ummah we should strictly follow the instructions of Allah and his beloved Prophet (PBUH) and restrict ourselves from committing sins more with care because of the sacredness of this month.

The rituals for the month of Muharram can be found in authentic Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) especially regarding the day of Ahsura. But many Muslims are following some other (unauthentic) ways to spend their month of Muharram due to the incident of Karbala.

The incident of Karbala is one of the saddest incident in the history of mankind. Husain (R.A) the grandson of Prophet Muhamamd (PBUH) and son of the fourth rightly guided caliph of Islam Ali (R.A) martyred in Karbala with his family on the day of Ashura. According to Hadith the Rasul-Ul-Allah (SAWW) already knew what will happened to Al-Hassan and Al-Hussain (R.A) so he warned the people many times and instruct Ummah to love them.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“These two are my sons, and the sons of my daughter. O Allah! Indeed, I love them, so love them, and love those who love them.” (At-Tirmidhi: 3769)

And he (PBUH) said:

“Whoever loves Hasan and Hussain, loves me; and whoever hates them, hates me.” (Ibn Majah: 143)
The story of Karbala bring tears in the eyes of every Muslim but Allah Is very merciful and we need to trust his justice. He will punish every single person involve in this “Fitna” and as Muslim this should be our faith.

We are recommending few books which will surely clear your conceptions about Muharram and the Leaders of the Youth in Paradise Al-Hasan and Al-Husain (R.A) and their father and forth caliph of Islam Ali Ibn-Abi Talib.
